The ENO DoubleNest is the most popular hammock in the US for good reason — it's comfortable, durable, packs tiny, and sets up in minutes. Whether you're camping, reading in the backyard, or napping at a park, it's one of the most enjoyable pieces of outdoor gear you can own.
You need two trees about 10–15 feet apart. The hammock comes with carabiners but not straps — ENO's Atlas straps ($25) are the most popular add-on and make setup and takedown take about 2 minutes. Wrap the straps around the trees, clip the carabiners, and you're done.
For the most comfortable sleep, lie diagonally across the hammock rather than straight along the centerline. This flattens the hammock and reduces the banana shape. A sleeping pad or underquilt is needed for warmth in cool weather — the hammock itself provides no insulation from below.
Use wide straps (at least 1 inch) to avoid damaging tree bark. ENO's Atlas straps are 1.5 inches wide. Avoid hammocking on young or small trees. Most campgrounds allow hammocking — check the rules before you set up.
