The ResQLink View is the PLB we recommend for every boater. It is small enough to clip to a life jacket, works anywhere on earth, and gives rescue services your exact GPS coordinates with one button press. Pair it with the ACR GlobalFix V6 EPIRB for the vessel — this one is for you personally.
An EPIRB is registered to the vessel and can auto-deploy when submerged. A PLB is registered to a person and must be manually activated. If you go overboard and are separated from your boat, the EPIRB stays with the vessel — your PLB goes with you. That is why serious boaters carry both.
Activate the ResQLink View by extending the antenna and pressing the distress button. It acquires GPS and transmits your exact coordinates on 406 MHz to the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite network. Rescue coordination centers receive your position typically within minutes, anywhere on earth.
All PLBs must be registered with NOAA before use — it is free and takes five minutes at beaconregistration.noaa.gov. Registration links your PLB to your personal information, which dramatically speeds up rescue response.
